Makeup Free to Support Hillary

Hillary Clinton, like her or not, has paved a path for women in the political sphere and society in general. From that, she has also taken her fair share of negative media attacks, but the most recent “news” story has left me appalled. Ladies and gentlemen, make sure you are sitting down for this one; Hillary Clinton wore no makeup…and glasses (glasses!) to an “official event in Bangladesh.”

Never mind that the Secretary of State was there on official business, “managing to avert a full out diplomatic crisis between America and China over a blind dissident and pressed India to reduce its oil imports from that rogue nation Iran.” That is clearly of no importance – her appearance obviously takes precedent over diplomatic agendas.

The fact that we continue to value women for their appearance more than their intelligence, successful career, life accomplishments, etc., is incredibly disappointing and disturbing at the same time. Instead of continuing to go on about the hypocrisies that society places on the expectations of beauty (look “Au Naturale” without actually being it), I have decided to positively take a stand and support Secretary Clinton, by copying her look for an entire business day. I’m proudly posting my “Au Naturale” look to initiate the “Makeup Free to Support Hillary” project (watch, this will be the post that takes off and I’ll end up on Good Morning America sans makeup and wearing glasses).

Ok, just kidding…

I hope this post encourages other woman to do the same (please share if you do), and cherish themselves for who they are and not what they look like.

Au Naturaley Yours,

Stephanie
